Committees and Forums

Audit Committee

The main duties of the Audit Committee include:

  • The review of internal and external audit arrangements;
  • The regular review of findings and associated management action arising from internal and external audit activity;
  • The review and monitoring of adherence to the Board's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instruction; and
  • Ensuring that effective internal control systems are maintained and corporate governance matters are observed.

Clinical Governance Committee

The role of the Clinical Governance Committee is to oversee quality and clinical governance for the Board and ensure that quality standards are being set, met and continuously improved in appropriate areas of clinical activity and that effective arrangements for supporting, monitoring and reporting on quality and clinical governance are in place and working effectively across NHS Grampian.

Endowment Committee

The Endowment Committee oversees the management of the NHS Grampian Endowments funds, which had assets at 31 March 2017 valued at £46 million (31 March 2016 valued at £41.3 million).

The Engagement and Participation Committee

The Engagement and Participation Committee's role is to provide strategic direction, quality assurance and monitoring of progress on all aspects of engagement and participation.

It ensures that patients, carers and the general public are effectively informed about and included in services, and the strategic and corporate agenda in a variety of ways.

The committee meets every quarter.

North of Scotland Research Ethics Service

To provide the independent advice to participants, researchers, funders, sponsors, employers, care organisations and professionals on the extent to which proposals for research studies comply with recognised ethical standards.

Performance Governance Committee

The Performance Governance Committee provides assurance to the NHS Board on the effectiveness of the performance review arrangements across NHS Grampian and that appropriate action is being taken to address areas of underperformance.

Pharmacy Practices Committee

To determine entry into the Pharmaceutical List.

Spiritual Care Committee

The Spiritual Care Committee supports the integrated planning and delivery of spiritual care services within NHS Grampian.

Staff Equalities Network

This network seeks to embed principles of anti-racism and anti-discrimination at the heart of everything we do, and to promote equality and inclusion at every opportunity within NHS Grampian.

Staff Governance Committee

The Staff Governance Committee has an important role in ensuring consistency of policy and equity of treatment of staff across the local NHS system, including remuneration issues, where they are not already covered by existing arrangements at national level. The Committee also oversees the implementation of the Staff Governance Standard which requires all NHS Boards to demonstrate that staff are well informed; appropriately trained; involved in decisions that affect them; treated fairly and consistently; and provided with a continuously improving and safe working environment. The standard also places requirements on staff to ensure a balanced commitment to these matters.

Forums

Area Clinical Forum

To review and support the business of the Area Professional Committees to ensure a co-ordinated approach on clinical matters among the different professions and within the component parts of the local NHS system.

Grampian Area Partnership Forum (GAPF)

To ensure effective employee relations and is committed to working in partnership to achieve outcomes which benefit both staff and the services provided to patients within NHS Grampian.
